Performance #6 6 Inevitable Collisions is a remake of a performance called Fray, the first part of the ‘Self-Disposition Triptych’. In the original version as well as the remake, the starting point is the fascination of self destruction. However, it showes the flipside of the coin. It projects the positive side of this principle by showing a cleansing process. A catharsis. To ridicule this, somewhat laden subject, there’s a reference to slapstick. The unsuspecting individual and the rake in the field. For the remake, an arsenal of objects and constructions were made to bombard the performer with wheat, powdered sugar and dark coloured fluids. To have live sound with this piece, a part of the Electro-Mechanical Device was put into play. A new set-up was designed by Xavier van Wersch who also did the lighting design.
