Louis Marlon van den Brink (Utrecht 1977) familiarized himself with painting, ceramics, mixed media, 3d objects en video during his studies at Hogeschool voor de Kunsten Utrecht and Th. Gerrit Rietveld Academy. Along the way he developed a desire to focus on performance art, music and technology. As a result he switched to Interfaculty ArtScience( previously Image & Sound), where he graduated in 2008 with a project researching the sound of metal.
His performances are intense but with a large dose of humour. Often they refer to the relationship between the individual and society, like a study of the human condition. The model for human behaviour that he uses, is that of his own personality. For example the performance piece ‘Quad Interface’, in which he performs as a ‘Gene Kelly’ on converted, with sensor equipped roller skates, trying to get to the peek of ‘Singing In The Rain’ whilst falling, getting back up and singing, or in the ‘Self-Disposition’ triptych where he desecrates the body in order to cleanse the soul.
From a large knowledge and interest in the creative industries he performed as a DJ, VJ, musician and performer in both solo acts as ensembles at a variety of festivals such as: State X, Project Mayhem, Gaudeamus, Courtisan, Transmission, EX-IS, Ground 2, Goebbels, de KunstTour and diverse projects at TodaysArt Festival including the spectacular performance Structet: Building Music.
Currently he is working on a performance piece about inevitable collisions and is the lead singer of Adult Survivors.
